Areas of responsibility

Berg-Johnsen coordinates several subjects on many of the teacher education programs at the Institute for Teacher Education and Outdoor Studies. He has a particular responsibility for the part-time education programs, as well as extensive teaching in the new 5-year teacher education program in practical and aesthetic subjects(LUPE). Berg-Johnsen has applied and recieved fundings for developement of the part-time education programs, and is responsible for the production of large amounts of digital teaching.

Research

 

Berg-Johnsen has a background as an athlete in freeride and working as a coach at all levels within freeskiing. He has a particular interest in skill acquisition and learning within lifestyle sports. Beyond this, He does practitioner research in teacher education, self-organized activity, lifestyle sports in physical education, talent development, and skill development in self-organized activity. Espen is a part of the FUSK project and a member of the 6er group, which is responsible for the development and implementation of national surveys within physical education.

Short biography

Espen Berg-Johnsen is employed as a university lecturer at the Department of Teacher Education and Outdoor Studies at NIH.

Berg-Johnsen is educated as a general teacher from Sør-Trøndelag University with a master's in physical education and sports science from Nord-Trøndelag University(NORD University). In his professional career, Berg-Johnsen has worked across a broad spectrum of primary education, as well as extensive experience as a full-time coach at elite sports colleges and with the national team in the ski federation. One of Berg-Johnsen's areas of interest is how we can integrate self-organized activity into the physical education subject in an appropriate manner.
