Areas of responsibility

Teaching, research, supervision, Committee for Postgraduate Education, Leader Biochemical Laboratory. Head of the biochemistry research group.

Research

Metabolism, exercise physiology, biochemistry, endurance performance, caffeine, protein intake

Teaching

Lecturer in metabolism.

Academic responsibility for "Metabolism" (THP204) and "Metabolic regulation" (MA408).

Short biography

PhD in 1993 from the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences, followed by a postdoc position at the University of Oslo.

Worked at the National Institute of Occupational Health (1997-2009), studying basic mechanisms regulating glucose uptake and glycogen metabolism in skeletal muscles.

Currently, the research focus regulation of carbohydrate metabolism during and after exercise; these studies includes the role of caffeine and protein intake on endurance performance. Furthermore, the effect of exercise on insulin sensitivity is studied.
