The project is called HeInnovaSport and will help NIH to fulfill its mission to an even greater degree and to promote physical activity and [good] health in an increasingly sedentary population.
The project will meet these societal needs by creating new solutions and ideas which include:
- Being a driving force for organizational changes that encourage entrepreneurship and innovation at the institutions of higher education involved
- Improving the quality of education by including entrepreneurship and innovation so that students will be better prepared for careers and for a society in constant change
- Developing innovation and entrepreneurship training for students and staff, and developing mentorship
- Encouraging student involvement and create engagement through, e.g. an innovation competition for students and involve students in innovative research projects
- Establishing incentives that support business ventures
- Establishing new cooperation with external partners including businesses, community leaders, and research groups
- Highlighting innovations produced from research

The EIT HEI Initiative is a key objective for the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) as part of its new strategy, the EIT Strategic Innovation Agenda 2021−2027. The project launched on 1 July and will continue for two years.
The project received funding from the EUs key funding program for research and innovation (Horizon Europe) through the EIT HEI Initiative: Innovation Capacity Building for Higher Education which works to increase the entrepreneurial and innovation capacity of higher education institutions across Europe.
HeInnovaSport is the second EU-financed project that NIH will lead (in Norwegian only).
