Moving from Norway

When you move from Norway to another country, you must report the change to the tax office/national registry. This must be done with a written notification.

How to register your move

Fill out the notification form (flyttemeldingsskjema RF-1454), and include a copy of your ID.  Send the form to:

For a stay less than 6 months

When you have lived in Norway for less than 6 months before emigrating, you may want to clear any tax issues you may have in Norway before leaving the country, and not wait for the system to send you the tax assessment the following year.

For a stay more than 6 months

Norway has different regulations for those who stay for a period of 6 months or more.

Close Bank Accounts

Different banks can have different routines, fees and processing time for your request of closing your account. Contact your bank well in advance to find out how to do this.

Remember to inform anyone who may transfer money to you and give them your new account details. Contact your bank about keeping your account if you wish to do so.
