The information about the submission of documentation through Samordna opptak is available on the respective webpage.

You bear the responsibility for uploading all the required documentation within the given deadlines. Your application cannot be reviewed for admission if such documentation is not uploaded in time.

Guide on uploading your documentation

You upload your documentation to the "My documents" folder in Søknadsweb. You can at any time check which documents you have already uploaded there.

  • Upload your documents in the PDF- or an image format (don't use compressed or archived files in ZIP format).
  • Make sure that the files you are uploading can be opened, and are easily readable.
  • Make the document names easy to understand (for example "transcript", "Norwegian test", "license" etc.)
  • You must upload all pages from multi-page documents as one document (see how to make a compiled file with several pages).
  • We do not accept documents sent via email. Everything must be uploaded to Søknadsweb.
  • Do not upload documents that are not required or are not requested by us.

Are you currently finishing an educational program you want to use in your application?

This can, for example, be study programs or single courses that are relevant for the admission process. You can document that you satisfy the entrance requirements for the programs you applied to up until the deadline to upload the documentation.

You will receive information about the documentation deadline in the email you receive after your application is submitted.

Education from NIH or other public Norwegian universities or university colleges

You do not need to upload transcripts or diplomas. We can access them through the digital result sharing system.

If you have finished a program outside of NIH, you can access your results under the "External results" tab in Søknadsweb. The results from NIH will not be visible there.

Education from private higher education institutions in Norway

If you cannot find your results under the "External results" tab in Søknadsweb, this means that your educational institution does not share the students' results with other institutions.

In order to give NIH access to your results, you must upload your diploma with a complete transcript of records. You can do it under the "My documents" tab in Søknadsweb.

Course syllabi from previous education obtained in Norway

If certain courses from your previously acquired education do not clearly show through their names what the course contents are, you must provide us with course syllabi. We require this in order to be able to assess if you satisfy the admission requirements and/or specialization requirements.

If you fail to upload the course syllabi, we will not be able to assess either your previously acquired education, or your application to study programs at NIH in its entirety.

Do you have a degree from overseas?

  • You must document a completed degree with a diploma and complete transcript of records. The diploma must be signed and stamped by the issuing institution.
  • Translations of documents from other countries than Scandinavian countries or English speaking countries:
    • Such documentation must be uploaded in the original language, accompanied by official translations to either English or a Scandinavian language (Norwegian, Swedish, Danish).
  • Course syllabi:
    • These documents must show that you are qualified for the study programs you have applied for. The course syllabi must contain descriptions of learning goals, learning outcomes, required activities, assessment, list of required readings/literature etc.
  • Higher education recognition certificate from NOKUT:
    • Have you received a recognition certificate for your education from NOKUT? This is not a requirement, but is useful.

High school/general entrance requirements?

  • Norwegian high school (videregående) with completion and graduation after year 2000:
  • Other high school types/before 2000:
    • You must upload the documentation about completed high school education yourself
  • International Baccalaureate (IB):
    • You must upload your diploma from your finished IB education

Work certificates

If you are applying on the basis of experience-based qualification (realkompetanse), or if you're applying for studies where your work experience is relevant to the assessment of your application, you must upload work certificates to your application. A work certificate must include the following information in order to be accepted:

  • date when the certificate was issued
  • name and date of birth of the employee
  • duration of the employment with dates
  • employment percentage or hours per week
  • full name of the employer
  • full name and position of the legal representative of the employer signing the certificate
  • signature and stamp of the employer

Name change or a foreign passport?

In this case we need documentation to confirm your identity:

  • a copy of your foreign passport (if you are not applying with a Norwegain national ID number)
  • documentation on the name change (if your name is spelled differently in the different documents you are submitting)

Early decision

You can apply to get an early decision on your application if you:

  • are working and have more than 2 months of notice period, or have to apply for a leave of absence
  • are self-employed and are going to liquidate your business
  • have to move with your family, which leads to the need to change your job or to change schools/kindergarten for your children

In addition, you must also:

  • be qualified for admission within the given deadline for application. If you are finishing your education after the deadline, you cannot be considered for early decision.
  • be ranked in the top 10% of the applicants who got accepted into your desired study program during the previous admissions period.

If you do not satisfy the requirements for an early decision or are not qualified, your application will be assessed in the main admissions period.

Documentation to apply for an early decision - you must upload one of the following:

  • A confirmation from your employer about your notice period or leave
  • Employment contract from your employer which shows your notice period, together with the last salary statement
  • Certificate from the tax office or business register about self-employment
  • Residence certificate from the National Population Register for the applicant and their children, or for the applicant and their spouse/cohabitant
  • A certificate from a relevant authority (for example, a medical doctor)

Name the PDF file "early decision"

If you are applying for an early decision to your application, you must send an email to opptak@nih.no after you have uploaded all the necessary documentation to your application.

Control of documentation

It is the applicant's direct responsibility to make sure that the documents are correct and valid. After the admissions process is complete, we might ask you to provide us with the original versions of the documents you have uploaded, or to document that your documentation is authentic in a different way. If you cannot provide us with the accepted documentation, you might lose your student status at NIH. Document forgery will be reported to the police.
