Introduction

The main objective of the course is to enhance practical competence in leading daily developmental work for athletes in sports club, school, or association settings, particularly in the roles of a coach or sports psychology consultant.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student should be able to:

  • Plan, execute, and evaluate developmental work in the role of a coach or sports psychology consultant in a club, school, or association.

  • Plan, execute, and assess training for athletes with physical disabilities.

  • Evaluate and apply relevant theory and empirical knowledge related to their own coaching or sports psychology consultant practice.

  • Develop practical skills to facilitate flexible, sustainable, and effective training in collaboration with athletes.

  • Present, discuss, and further develop daily developmental work in collaboration with fellow students and practice supervisors.

  • Critically reflect on the role of a coach or sports psychology consultant in a club, school, or association.

Learning methods and activities

The course emphasizes hands-on experiences, fieldwork, simulations, and experiential exercises, encouraging students to actively engage with new sporting environments. This approach aims to foster the development of practical skills and situational awareness.
The primary focus of the course is on professional practice as a coach or sports psychology consultant within a sports club, school, or association. Additionally, students will take part in seminars and colloquia led by an instructor. Practical training placements are assigned by NIH, considering specialization in sports, suitability, and experience. Each student is paired with a practical supervisor in the sports club, school, or association to facilitate their learning and development.

Work requirements

Practical Report
The report is expected to include documentation covering the planning, implementation, and evaluation of a minimum of 90 hours of coaching or sport psychology consultancy practice in a sports club, school or association.

Compulsory participation in a themed day focused on training athletes with physical disabilities.
The fulfillment of this requirement must be approved to proceed with the practical-methodological examination.
