Course facts

Introduction

The essay aims to provide the student with the opportunity to study a topic of one's own choice in depth. It is expected that the student seeks deeper knowledge of relevant literature and utilizes this in a discussion about the research topic.

This will give the student a possibility to improve his or her understanding of one of the subjects chosen in the exchange program.

Learning outcomes

After the course, the student shall be able to

• work independently on a sports related topic.
• produce a written academic text that portrays the topic in a logical and analytical fashion.

Learning styles and activities

The subject and research question of the essay must be approved by a supervisor within a given deadline. The essay will be a study of literature and work with research data analyses, not a paper of one's own philosophy or opinions.

Each student will be given 6 hours of guidance by a supervisor.

Assessment

Individual written essay of a maximum of 6000 words, in addition to table of contents, reference list and possible attachments.

The essay will be graded pass-fail.

Core material

The student is expected to find approximately 500 pages of scientific literature in cooperation with a supervisor.
