Sport Psychology, Doping, Injury, Motivation and Performance

Teaching

Teaches various subjects for bachelor students in coaching and psychology, as well as ice skating for the first-year undergraduates and the PE students.

Short biography

Jan Åge Kristensen is researcher and a senior lecturer at the Department of Sport and Social Sciences.

Kristensen holds a master’s degree in coaching and psychology from the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences, along with a two-year undergraduate education in cognitive behavioral therapy from the Norwegian Association for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. His Ph.D. project, titled " Health-compromising behaviors among Norwegian adolescent athletes”, aimed to deepen the understanding of the psychosociale risk and protective factors influencing young athletes’ dysfunctional behavioral patterns. This encompassed the exploration of painkiller usage, dietary supplements, doping, and participation in sports despite injuries.

Jan Åge also serves as a mental performance consultant, offering consultation services to athletes and various organizations focused on development and performance.
