Short biography

Lone Friis Thing is born in 1964 and is Professor and Head of Department of Sport and Social Sciences.

She has a master’s degree (5-years) in the areas Humanities and Social Sport Sciences and Biology (4 years) including a PhD degree from Department of Sociology – all are undertaken at University of Copenhagen. Lone Friis Thing is a researcher in health promotion and prevention in relation to sport and physical activity through the work with among others heart disease and life style (elderly) and innovative culture strategies for organizational changes in the Danish Upper Secondary School (youth). Lone Thing was former Head of the section “Sport, Individual & Society”, and Head of studies for the graduate programmes at the Department in Copenhagen University.

Thing was a board member at Norwegian School of Sport Sciences (NIH), Oslo, and is appointed external examiner at the sport science educations and within Public Health educations in Denmark.
