Online students

You apply for "Online courses" in Søknadsweb and document general study competence or experience-based qualification. Once you have received an email that you have been admitted as a student, you must register for the online courses you wish to choose for the upcoming semester in Studentweb (online portal) as part of the semester registration.

Your student status is granted for four semesters and require semester registration. At the beginning of each semester, you should select which courses you want to take. Online course students can take a maximum of 30 ECTS per academic year.

  • You can take one or more course in the order you prefer.
  • You cannot transfer partially completed courses (work requirements) to the following semester. You will then have to retake the entire course.
  • Courses are conducted in the fall and/or spring semester.
  • At the start of the semester, you will be assigned a contact person who will assist you throughout the course.
  • The courses are set up so that you decide when you want to start after the semester begins, and last for one semester.
  • All learning resources are ready for you in Canvas when you begin, so there are no traditional lectures or school exams at NIH.
  • The courses can be included in a bachelor's degree. Each student must check this with their own institution or alternatively apply for credit transfer in later studies.

Semester fee

If you pay a semester fee at another college/university in Norway, you are exempt from this at our institution. Documentation of this must be sent to opptak@nih.no within the deadline for payment of the semester fee.

Tuition fee

Students with citizenship from countries outside Norway, the EU/EEA and Switzerland, must pay tuition fee to NIH. International exchange students from partner institutions are exempt from the tuition fee.
